Kaboomars!!! 🧨 - An explosive experience

Its based jam 2025 Spring - The game jam started on 5th April...

And I started my game development exactly two days later... 7th of April...

Because I was overthinking on the idea... What to actually make... I was very confused...

Top Down alien shooter? FPS shooter? Very easy to do... Totally forgettable game ideas unless I do something different...

Google searched list of weapons and ended up at this post -> All types of weaponsAll types of weapons

And while browsing through the weapons, my eyes pondered over this... Boomsticks mayhem...

I know I am not going to give the player any guns at all... Only dynamites...

But if you keep hurling the same type of dynamite? It gets boring, right?

And I was like what if I had colored dynamites in the game...

Red will be your regular boomstick... but the others can do aesthetic changes along with damage...

And these amazingly colored dynamites came into existence...

Each with a purpose... Some were pure gameplay but others did something extra...

Sadly the blue one was gonna be aesthetics one but I forgot to add modification for the final build...

In future, I am going to add destructible alien objects that will unlock these colored dynamites...

Also created these enemies...

The center one is the OG alien menace...

The other two are just texture swap variants for dynamite effects... Was supposed to give them special attacks but time was running out and also a boss was needed to be done as well..

I also created the boss for the level called Steelzilla... And those dorsal plates are I-beams... Because he shoots steel I-beams...

Also because time was running thin... very thin... didn't got to work for few days to personal work schedule... I decided to keep the t-pose and make the very low poly model that cannot even be rigged at all...

I will make a better one later though...

I am planning to make this game into a very enjoyable experience...

It was the first enjoyable game I made amongst all the games I made before...

Well, they were just made... This one was the one where I had real fun while developing it... And rushing before the submission deadline...
